Questions about us

What are your opening hours?
We are open most days including public holidays. Hours of operation do vary with the seasons but we are usually open at 9am to the last ride of the day.

Are your guides experienced?
All of our staff are passionate and experienced in working with horses.

Do you have insurance?
Yes. Details are available on request.

Did you change your company name?
Yes, we were formally known as Tonimbuk Trail Rides which was in operation for 40+ years. We decided to change our name when we moved to our new property in Labertouche.

Questions about our horses

Are the horses quiet and safe?
Yes, our horses are trail riding horses and are used to inexperienced riders. They are well behaved and we have certain horses that are suitable for complete beginners and other more forward horses for the more experienced rider.

Are your horses for sale?
It’s common to fall in love with our horses after a ride! Usually we don’t sell our horses but other arrangements can be made where possible. Just ask.

What’s the best way to get to Ryders?
From Melbourne
Travel on the M1 (Princes Freeway) towards Warragul.
Turn left on Sands Rd and then right on Princes Way.
Take first left into
Labertouche Rd which veers right into Forest Rd.

From Warragul/Gippsland
Travel on the M1 (Princes Freeway) towards Melbourne CBD.
Turn right on Sands Rd and then right on Princes Way.

Questions about payment + bookings

Do you accept credit or bank card on the day?
We only accept cash on the day of the ride at this time.

Do I need to book?
Yes, bookings are essential for all of our rides.
Bookings can be made by email or by phone.

Questions about riding requirements

What are your age restrictions?
Pony rides – minimum age 3 years old
1 hour rides – minimum age 6 years old
2 hour or more rides – minimum age 10 years old

Is there a weight limit?
Yes. We are unable to cater to people who are heavier than 110kgs.

Do I need to have riding experience?
No, riding experience is not necessary as we cater to riders of all levels from novice to the experienced. In fact, many of our customers on the trail rides have never been on a horse before.

Questions about your ride

What do I need to wear?
For your own safety and comfort we recommend that you wear long pants and enclosed shoes. Jeans and runners are quite acceptable. Helmets are provided and are compulsory for everyone.

Can I take a camera?
You can bring a small camera with you and there will be many opportunities to take photos on the ride. Larger cameras are not recommended. We are not liable for any damage that occurs on a ride.

Do I need to arrive early?
Arrive at least 15 minutes before your ride is scheduled to depart to ensure everyone is ready and equipped for the ride.

Can I go for a gallop?
We do not allow any of our horses to gallop. If you are confident and competent, there are opportunities to trot and canter along parts of the Park.

Where do we go for our ride?
Riders are guided through Bunyip State Park, a distinctive Australian bush atmosphere. Visit Parks Victoria for more information about the local environment.

Questions about the weather

What happens if it rains?
In the case of rain, rides will still go on. If there forecast is rain, bring a waterproof jacket. It is rare that we would cancel a ride, but if extreme weather is forecast, we will notify you and arrange to reschedule your ride.

Questions about gift certificates

Can I buy a gift certificate?
Our gift certificates are popular for birthdays, Christmas, Business Awards or to give to a family member or friend. Please go to our Gift Certificates page for more information.

How long are gift certificates valid for?
Gift certificates are valid for 12 months from date of purchase.
